Pete Walters (Guitar)

Home » Meet the Music Tutors » Pete Walters (Guitar)

Pete has been playing music his whole life. He started piano at the age of 4 and found his feet in Guitar and Drums later in life. In his 13 years of Guitar experience, Pete has played in various bands, learned countless styles and achieved all 8 grades. Alongside his Grade 8 guitar, he has a Grade 8 in drums (taught by Jason Gumbley!). His drumming experience has helped develop both rhythm and timing as a musician.

Pete has been massively influenced, as many guitarists have, by blues music. One of his favourite pastimes is to sit and jam along to a blues backing track for hours on end, something that he would love to do with his students! Rock music has also been vital in Pete’s development as a guitarist. He believes you can’t call yourself a guitarist without knowing some of the solos of the likes of Slash and Randy Rhoades!

Outside of music, Pete has just completed his physics masters and is studying for his PhD. He has 4 years of tutoring experience in Physics and is also a kickboxing coach! These tutoring experiences have helped Pete to hone his teaching style. His focus is on understanding before anything else, as a good understanding is the key to learning!
